I think Jasper's expression says it all about his first party. He looked at times to be curiously confused by it all and then as the day came to an end there was pure excitement and delight as he played with new toys, crumpled up wrapping paper, and walked around the room like a cowboy. By bedtime, and on the outset, he looked like a child with boundless energy but he fell asleep hard in about three minutes flat!
His celebration was pretty simple. For dinner we had one of his favorite meals: homemade chicken rice soup and homemade Pink Lady applesauce. Will and I made White Chocolate Strawberry cake (for us) and Jasper ate a maple sweetened muffin. I was able to make the birthday banner this weekend in bright Cinco de Mayo colors. He opened a couple presents from his family, took a bath, and his brother read him a birthday story. I should note that his favorite gifts were in the cards. He grinned with delight at the $1 bill (for turning 1). He crumpled it and looked at me to see if I was upset about it. Then he laughed and crumpled some more.
