Teeter totter out of driftwood! The fulcrum was a bit off when we got to use it on Saturday (Kimberly had to help on Soren's side!) but Friday it was working very well and it was fun to watch the kids bob up and down with the Sound in the background.

While Kimberly napped, little did she know what Aniela was up to with the bucket!
Most of the usual clan couldn't make it this summer. We only had a few families each night.
Paul and Will are walking there along the shore towards the bridge. We were nursing and enjoying the view.
They insisted on swimming with their heavy metal sand shovels!

North Beach digging
North Beach fort
Giant fallen log with a natural slide near the campsite.

While we were packing up Jasper hung out in the camping supply crate.

We embarked on our first camping trip with Jasper in tow this weekend. I'm really glad we opted for only one night away from home because while Jasper was very mellow with it all, I can see how things can turn for the worse with an infant. It would be hard to be enclosed in a tent with people all around, trying to minimize noise, zipping/unzipping... I was very thankful that Jasper settled down to sleep just fine and wasn't too overwhelmed being away from his familiar setting. He actually seemed very curious by the sounds of birds and chipmunks, trees through the sky above, and the moonlit night sky. He loved all the people around smiling at him and the sounds of children running through the campsite. All in all, I think he enjoyed himself!
We went to Deception Pass this year which is boasted as one of the more lovely campgrounds in the state. We were at a site near the rocky north beach with the famous bridge scene but we really loved the warm west beach with a sweet swimming area (and a concession stand no less!) right on Cranberry Lake.
Kimberly and her family joined us and a family friend of Susanne's with her two sons. It cracked me up to watch Aniela always about ten paces behind the gaggle of six year old boys as they raced by with shovels or sticks or tried desperately to poke and bother the fire. We had fun but sure missed the rest of our group. Next summer hopefully we can all make it!

The first photo of Will is the best-- wow, what a grown up, beautiful boy. I also like Jasper in the empty camping bin. And, deception pass-- ahh, how I loved that place.
