Will attended Sibling Preparation Class this week and really seemed to enjoy himself. Penny had a realistic soft doll that "gave birth" and she did all the sounds of labor and pushing so the kids could do it with her and then see the chain of events from the first contraction to the expulsion of the placenta and even breastfeeding. She had great realistic photos and images of everything, explained about the blood and where it comes from, and shared some ideas of things that siblings can do to "help". All the kids were very astute about knowing the details of pregnancy and birth. I loved hearing the little two and three year olds shout out "placenta" or "umbilical cord"!
