Will's school met at the farm today for animal petting, tractor rides and pumpkin hunting. Since it was raining the farm was rather quiet but what a fun place! They had a huge pit of feed corn to jump in, baby rabbits, pigs, goats, cows and even a donkey. They also created a hay maze inside another barn with a long shiny waxed slide and tunnel. There were John Deere tractor trikes to ride around in a hay corral and an old hot tub was turned into a sandbox with-- you guessed it-- John Deere tractor bulldozers to play with. One of Will's new friends from his class was there and they were able to take a ride on the coolest tractor train you ever did see!
Afterwards, we went out for lunch with a couple of the teachers. The diner we chose in farm country was pretty authentic with every single bit of wallspace covered with some kind of kitschy knickknack. Paul almost died when his "veggie" sandwich arrived with white sandwich bread and Velveeta cheese! Candace and Jennifer ordered biscuits and gravy and omelettes complete with hot cocoa topped with mountains of Reddi Whip.
