Our little puffkin is getting old. He walks with a limp in his leg, he drools, he has bad breath and age spots, he sleeps 24 hours a day, he has a crotchety little meow at times...but he is still loved tremendously by our whole family. He gets lots of kisses and cuddles throughout the day by all. And it does seem to me that he has accepted children in his life now. When Will was born he still had a fear of their loud, uncoordinated, and unpredictable behavior but now he just sleeps right alongside Jasper as he plays, he tolerates the open mouthed kisses from toddlers who come over to play, and he seems undisturbed by remote control helicopters, baby basketballs, and sticky fingers in his direction. He could leave at any time to go find a more peaceful place to rest but he is ALWAYS right in the same room as us no matter what is going on. If we go downstairs he follows us and watches what we are doing from the balcony, if we're in the kitchen he sits in there with us right underfoot, if we are outside he watches us through the window, if we are in the living room he is curled up at the stove.
Will chose to give his Christmas photo to Mandarin this year and when I asked him who he loves the most and who he'll make a Valentine for he didn't skip a beat before he said, "Puffkin."
