Goodbye Kittens

Supposedly the kittens are going back to the shelter tomorrow for spay. I have a sneaking suspicion that we will need to bring them home after the surgery for healing but I'm still preparing Will that this may be our final goodbye. They have been fun for him though much work for me!
We never really named the grey one but we did start to call the white one, "Little Whiskers" after the book "Mr Pusskins and Little Whiskers".

First Pepper of the Season

Will grew these in his tiny backyard garden.

Strawberry Picking

Will and I went strawberry picking last week and we are going again this week with some friends. He loves to make strawberry pie with his berry cache. I was hoping for jam but I think we may have to wait for blueberry season for that.

Last Day of School

We celebrated our last day of school with a potluck picnic. We really didn't take many photos but here is a random solitary shot of Will and his buddy Olivia.

More Foster Kittens

Will and I are fostering another set of kittens this summer. Thankfully these gals are not needing to be bottlefed! We have a white/apricot female and a "blue" female. Will is old enough to really play well with them and he is enjoying it. I hear him hysterically laughing at them all the time.

Flying Up Ceremony and Parents Tea

Today was "graduation day" for many of the kids but in our school we call it "flying up". Next year Will is going to have his "graduation day" too as he "flies up" to elementary. I posted some photos here of him with his partner Olivia doing their dance and song (I have a photo of Will and Olivia on their first day of school in Toddler crying their eyes out!) and then Will sitting at his table in the garden having tea and then Will standing with his buddy Ryan in the garden.

Royal Party

This weekend was the annual Aiofe birthday bash and this year was a Royal Party complete with the King (Aiofe's dad), Queen (mom), prince (brother Jack), and princess (Aiofe herself). There was a court jester and a jumpy house castle along with smoked turkey legs, make your own crowns, make your own shields, and other fun. Will had a blast.

Cle Elum

One of our friends just bought an awesome cabin up in Cle Elum (just over the mountains) which we visited this past weekend. One of the highlights was this sweet little cottage out back where the kids played. It is made in a style using cord wood and some kind of mortar with really cool glass bottles to show light through the walls. It was a pretty sweet little playhouse!

Birthday Celebration

Even though Will's birthday is a few months away he had a celebration at school. This is his first one and he was very excited. He told me that we have to bring something "not sweet" to school like fruit or vegetables but no pineapple because some kids don't like it. We chose to cut up some "canteloupe smiles" which the kids loved and ate right down to the rind.

Part of the tradition is to walk around the sun while carrying the earth which you will see in the photo. For each year of his life we showed a photo and talked about a highlight from that The kids also sing Feliz Cumpleanos and while they eat their treat I read the birthday book that Will gave to the class.

Doesn't get much cuter than this!
